This probally is the MOST important tip in the game: first max out your Base at your commando center, you will get less and less loot every commando center level you go up, CC7 probally gives the most loot. If you don't have high upgrades, don't go to CC10, it's extremely hard to steal more as 200.000, you will be happy if you find like 120.000.
I went to fast to CC10, don't do the same ;)

Tournament Tip: How to earn big trophies while keeping your rating down

It's not quite that simple. The trick is understanding the difference between Medals (which rank you higher) and trophies (which go towards your clan) and using it to your advantage. When you hit 2000 you will start to find bases that only earn you 5-10 medals, these are the ones you attack. When you get close to 2100 lose a game to someone which will cost 35medals (again, you need to search for the right base to lose to). Keep doing this over and over. If you get above 2100 you won't find the lower medal bases and curiously it's also harder to lose 35 medals.

Using this method you will earn more trophies than you lose and you will stay below 2100. The attacks are easy as well; you'll only need a few Gunners and Rifleman to win. Don't waste oil by building lots of Pyros, Black Hawks or Iron Storm.... It's a waste when people bring too much gun power to a game

Running out of oil when you go for 2600 as you keep getting looted? This tip will help:

If your barracks are maxed out you can store 75 troops in them. 75 x 4 barracks so you have a potential 300 troops to train. To save oil when you are not online be sure to keep them full. Eg. Train your standard troops so they are hanging out at the rally points, then fill your barracks with bombers. My bombers (lvl5) are 3000 oil each. To fill my barracks it costs 90,0000k in oil. That's a lot of oil that can't be stolen when I'm not online. When I come back I clear out my barracks then attack.

At post #2.
I have a CC10 base and have no troubles finding over 200k most raids. It really depends on where you raid as to what you are going to get (e.g., do you drop to 1100, sit around 1700, stay above 2000 etc). Keeping in mind you may have to spend 20k to find a good base to farm.

Taking down bases efficiently can be an art. Anyone can train a few Iron Storms and a bunch of pyros and win a match. The trick to playing well at Jungle Heat is to win a match using the least amount of oil on tropps necessary. Unless you are going for the 2600 mark to unlock a hero you should be able to stick to Gunners, Rifleman, Spies and Bombers. There really isn’t a need to go all Pyro on people.

- If you are farming (looking for good resources not necessarily a win) a couple of Gunners, Bombs and Spies will do the trick. Use the Gunners to draw fire and the spies will do their thing.
- If you are competing Gunners, Bombs and Rifelman should sufice. Use gunners to take the heat… don’t attack a flame thrower all head on. Let of a Gunner or two to draw the fire, then place your riffleman down to the side. They will cream through the defence as your Gunners energy takes the damage.

@ post 8 Yeah, I'm at cc8 and it is easy to find inactives with 600k resources.

Also, here's a tip:

Many inactive bases sit around 1700 to 2000 rating with a bit a of looking you can score a ton of resources from looting easy to reach mines and pumps.

Tips for beginners:
Protect your resources first, then start to protect your command center. In the event that someone raids you, at least your resources can be protected. Badges shouldn't matter at this point.
